Translate a presentation with Translate Slides™

Translate Slides™ with AI GPT is a separate sister add-on from DocGPT.ai that translates an existing Google Slides presentation into a target language. Unlike the generator in Slides AI by DocGPT, it does not create new slides — it takes the deck you already have and replaces the text with a translation while preserving the layout.

When to use it

  • You built and polished a deck in one language and need the same deck in another.
  • You need several language versions of one master deck — translate copies instead of regenerating each one.
  • You received a deck in a language your audience does not read.

If the deck does not exist yet, it is usually simpler to generate it directly in the target language — see Writing tones and languages.

How to translate a deck

  1. Install Translate Slides™ with AI GPT — start from the landing page and follow its install link, approving permissions for the account you use with Google Slides.
  2. Open the presentation you want to translate. Work on a copy (File → Make a copy) if you want to keep the original language version.
  3. Launch the add-on from the Extensions menu.
  4. Choose the scope: translate the selected slide elements only, or the whole deck.
  5. Pick the target language and run the translation.

What happens to formatting

  • The slide layout is preserved: element positions, images, and slide structure stay where they are, and the translated text replaces the original text in place.
  • Translated text can be longer or shorter than the original — German typically runs longer than English, for example — so review each slide for text that overflows its placeholder and adjust font size or wording where needed.
  • The result is still a normal Google Slides deck: fully editable, exportable to PPTX or PDF via File → Download.

Scope: selected elements vs. whole deck

  • Selected elements — useful for partially bilingual decks, or for retranslating a single text box you edited after a full translation.
  • Whole deck — the usual choice for producing a complete language version in one run.
