Credits and troubleshooting
This page covers how the free plan of Slides AI by DocGPT works, what to do when you run out of credits, and fixes for the most common add-on issues.
How free credits work
- The free plan includes 10 AI presentations per month.
- No credit card is required — the free allowance is active as soon as you install the add-on.
- Each generated presentation counts against the monthly allowance.
When credits run out
When you use up the monthly allowance, generation pauses until the allowance renews the next month. To keep generating without waiting, upgrade to a paid plan — plans start at $14.99/mo. Current tiers and what they include are listed on the pricing section of the Slides AI page.
Common issues
The add-on is not visible in the Extensions menu
- Refresh the browser tab with your presentation — the Extensions menu is only rebuilt on page load.
- Confirm you are signed in with the Google account that installed the add-on. Check the account avatar in the top-right corner of Google Slides.
- If it is still missing, reinstall from the Marketplace listing while signed in with the correct account.
Generation fails or never finishes
- Retry the generation — transient failures usually succeed on a second attempt.
- Shorten the topic. Very long topics (or very large pasted text in the additional content field) are the most common cause of failed runs; trim the input and try again. See Create slides from text for tips on preparing source text.
- Reduce the slide count and generate again.
Signed in to multiple Google accounts
Google Slides add-ons can misbehave when several Google accounts are signed in to the same browser session: the add-on may run under a different account than the presentation. Workarounds:
- Open the presentation from your default account — the one at
https://docs.google.com/presentation/u/0/. - Or sign out of the extra accounts, or use a separate browser profile (or an incognito window) with only the account that installed the add-on.
Where to get support
