Privacy Policy - CleanUp AI: Storage Cleaner

Last Updated: July 24, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how "CleanUp AI: Storage Cleaner" ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our iOS mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Your photos, videos, contacts, and cleanup analysis remain on your device and are never uploaded to us or our analytics provider. If anonymous analytics are enabled, the App sends limited product-interaction events as described below.

Information We Access

Photo Library Access

With your permission, the App accesses your Photo Library to:

  • Identify Duplicate Photos: Scan for identical or similar images
  • Find Similar Photos: Group photos that look alike for easier cleanup
  • Detect Screenshots: Identify screenshot images for bulk management
  • Analyze Videos: Find large video files and compress them to save space

Contacts Access

With your permission, the App accesses your Contacts to:

  • Find Duplicate Contacts: Identify contacts with the same name, phone number, or email
  • Detect Incomplete Contacts: Find contacts missing essential information (name, phone, email)
  • Merge Contacts: Combine duplicate entries into a single, complete contact
  • Backup Contacts: Create local backup files of your contacts

Device Storage Information

  • Storage Statistics: Read available and used storage space on your device
  • No File System Access: We do not access files outside of Photos and Contacts

How Your Data Is Processed

Local Content Processing

All photo, video, and contact processing occurs entirely on your device. This means:

  • Your photos never leave your device
  • Your contacts never leave your device
  • No internet connection is required for core functionality
  • Analysis results are stored only in the app's local storage

No Cloud Processing

  • We do not use cloud-based AI services to process your photos
  • We do not upload any images or contact data to external servers
  • We do not share photos, videos, contacts, or cleanup results with third parties

Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we do NOT collect:

  • No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or account information
  • No Photos: Your photos are never uploaded or transmitted anywhere
  • No Contacts: Your contact information is never uploaded or transmitted anywhere
  • No Location Data: We do not access or collect location information
  • No Persistent Device Identifier: We do not collect IDFA or another identifier that follows you between app sessions
  • No Advertising Data: We do not collect data for advertising purposes

Anonymous Product Analytics

When the "Share Anonymous Analytics" setting is enabled, the App sends limited product-interaction events to PostHog, our analytics processor. These events help us understand where the app works well and where users encounter problems.

  • Events: App opens, onboarding and permission outcomes, scan completion and duration, counts and byte totals without filenames or media, paywall interactions, purchase status, and cleanup success or failure
  • Session ID: A random identifier is created for the current app session and is not stored for reuse in a later session
  • Technical context: App version, build number, and iOS platform
  • Not collected: Photos, videos, contacts, filenames, advertising identifiers, email addresses, precise location, or payment information
  • No tracking: Analytics are not used for advertising or to track you across apps or websites
  • Privacy controls: IP-based geolocation and PostHog person profiles are disabled

You can stop future analytics events at any time by turning off Share Anonymous Analytics in the App's Settings.

Local Data Storage

Contact Backups

  • When you create a contact backup, it is saved locally in the app's Documents folder
  • Backup files are stored in standard VCF (vCard) format
  • Backups remain on your device and are not uploaded anywhere
  • You can delete backups at any time through the app
  • Backups may be included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled

App Preferences

  • User preferences and settings are stored locally on your device
  • These settings are deleted when you uninstall the app

Analytics Retention

Anonymous analytics events are processed by PostHog in the United States under its security and privacy controls. Because the App does not attach an account, email address, or persistent identifier to these events, we generally cannot connect an analytics event back to a particular person.

  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
  • We encourage you to review this policy periodically
