Answer a backlog of reviews without copy-pasting the same hollow thank-you: each row reads the review and its star rating, then drafts a reply that names the specific praise or problem.

The formula

In D2, then drag down:

If 4-5 stars: thank them and mention the exact detail they praised. 2-4 sentences, warm but professional, never 'We value your feedback.'", A2)

For international reviews, translate the finished draft in E2:

=GPT_TRANSLATE(D2, "spanish")

Variations: add a support email or escalation phrase to the prompt for low ratings, or an extra column that labels each review’s main complaint (shipping, quality, support) so you can pivot-table what’s actually going wrong.

Get started

  1. Install GPT for Sheets from the Google Workspace Marketplace (free tier included, no API keys needed).
  2. Export reviews with their star ratings from your marketplace, app store or Google Business Profile.
  3. Drag the formula down, review the low-star drafts, then use Replace all GPT formulas with results in the sidebar.

FAQ

How does the template handle negative reviews differently?

The prompt branches on the star rating column: 1–3 stars get an apology for the specific complaint plus one concrete next step, 4–5 stars get thanks that echo the detail the customer praised. Nothing generic like “We value your feedback.”

Can it reply in the reviewer’s language?

Yes — chain =GPT_TRANSLATE(D2, "auto") style calls after generation, or simply add “reply in the same language as the review” to the prompt. Useful for marketplaces and app stores with international customers.

Should I post the drafts unedited?

Treat them as drafts. For 4–5 star reviews most replies are postable as-is; for angry or legally sensitive reviews (refund disputes, safety claims), a human should adjust the concrete remedy before publishing.
