FAQ Generator Template

Generate FAQ blocks for product and service pages with AI in Google Sheets. Free =GPT() template: real customer questions answered from your own facts.

Give every product and service page an FAQ block without writing one manually: each row turns a page’s facts and known objections into customer-phrased questions with straight answers.

What you need in your sheet

Column Content
A Page or product name
B Key facts (what it does, specs, policies)
C Known objections (price, shipping, compatibility, returns)
D Generated FAQ block

The formula

In D2, then drag down:

=GPT("Write 5 FAQ pairs for this product page. Phrase questions the way customers search ('Does it work with…', 'How long does…'). Answers: 2-3 sentences, factual, only from the details provided, no marketing fluff. Format: bold question, answer on the next line. Make sure to address: "&C2, A2&" — "&B2)

Prefer separate columns for your CMS? Put headers Question and Answer in F1:G1 and use:

=GPT_TABLE("10 customer FAQs with answers for "&A2&". Facts: "&B2, F1:G1)

Variations: ask for the block as FAQPage JSON-LD to paste straight into the page template, or add a tone instruction per row (“plain and reassuring” for returns-heavy products).

Get started

  1. Install GPT for Sheets from the Google Workspace Marketplace (free tier included, no API keys needed).
  2. Fill in one row per page — the richer column B is, the better the answers.
  3. Drag the formula down, then use Replace all GPT formulas with results in the sidebar before publishing.

FAQ

How do I keep the answers factual?

The model only knows what you put in the sheet, so the details column is the guardrail: feed it real specs, policies and shipping terms and instruct it to answer only from those. Leave it thin and the model will generalize — so don’t.

Can I get output ready for FAQ schema markup?

Yes — use the =GPT_TABLE() variation to get separate question and answer columns, which map straight onto FAQPage JSON-LD or any CMS FAQ block. You can also ask =GPT() to return the JSON-LD itself.

Is GPT for Sheets free to use for this?

There’s a free tier and no API keys to configure — GPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral and Perplexity models are built in. Install the add-on and the formulas work immediately.
