The Screen Recording permission is required by macOS to use Apple's ScreenCaptureKit framework. This is the only way to capture a window's visual appearance on macOS. We use this to:

3. How the App Works

Pin Window: Rectangle Pro is a fully offline utility:

• Floating Preview: Displays the captured image in an NSPanel window overlay
• Settings Storage: Uses macOS UserDefaults (local storage only)
• No Internet: The app makes no network connections whatsoever

4. Data Retention

• Window captures: Retained only in memory while a window is pinned; immediately discarded when unpinned
• Preferences: Stored locally until you uninstall the app or manually reset settings
• No server-side data: We have no servers and retain no data about you
